The afternoon will be devided into two parts: different career paths chosen by former PostDocs will be presented from 1pm until about 3.30pm. Guest speakers include Tim Carlton (former trainee patent attorney), Ola Zaid (CR-UK Drug Development Office), Hilde Moseby (Starlab representative), Jason Mellad (Cambridge Enterprise) and Ulrike (LEK consulting). After a short coffee break we will continue from 4pm with a panel discussion about the future of PostDocs in the current financial climate. The panel includes Peter Rigby, David Sargan, Chris Smith and Anne Forde. We hope to address questions such as: Where can PostDocs go if they don't want to stay in academia? What are their options? Is there a chance for new PostDocs to become an independent researcher in the current economic climate? How will budget cuts effect career prospects?
If you have a question that you would like us to ask during the panel discussion then please submit it in the forum section of this website or email the postdoc committee directly email@example.com.
